Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Past Briefly, LLC (“Past Briefly,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use our websites, applications, software, and related services (collectively, the “Service”). It is the only privacy policy for Past Briefly, LLC, and it also covers Rivington, a household concierge service that is a product of Past Briefly, LLC. Text messages from Rivington are covered in section 17.

We generally do not directly store complete payment card numbers. We may receive information relating to your purchase, such as your subscription status, transaction amount, billing period, payment status, and limited billing information.
Usage and Device Information
We may automatically collect information about how you interact with the Service, including:
- pages and features you use;

- device type;
- operating system;
- IP address;

Cookies and Similar Technologies
We may use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies to maintain sessions for signed-in members, remember preferences, understand usage, improve performance, prevent fraud, and analyze the Service.
When Google Analytics 4 is enabled for the public site (configured by Past Briefly under [email protected]), a first-party measurement script may load on public indexable pages such as the home, watch, character, Terms, and Privacy pages. It is not loaded on studio, accounts, login, or other private member surfaces. IP anonymization is requested in the measurement configuration. Public visitors browsing watch pages may also encounter third-party cookies when they choose to load an official platform player (for example TikTok or YouTube click-to-load embeds) or follow a Watch elsewhere link. Those players are provided by the platforms; Past Briefly does not control their cookie practices. On-site search runs on Past Briefly infrastructure in the current product and is not sent to a third-party search vendor.
We do not sell personal data. This is also true of mobile numbers and text message consent (see section 17). Published public pages are public on the web; platforms’ terms govern reuse of posts hosted there. Private member Creative Content is not used to train general-purpose models.
2. How We Use Information
We may use information to:
- provide and operate Past Briefly;
- create and maintain your account;
- save and synchronize your projects;
- process your prompts and requests;
- generate AI-powered suggestions and content;
- provide customer support;
- process subscriptions and payments;
- understand how users interact with the Service;
- improve product functionality, reliability, and usability;

- protect the Service against fraud, abuse, and security threats;
- communicate with you about your account or the Service;

- enforce our Terms of Service.
3. Artificial Intelligence Providers
Past Briefly may use third-party artificial intelligence providers to provide AI-powered features.
When you use these features, relevant portions of your prompts, Creative Content, project context, or instructions may be transmitted to these providers so they can process your request.
We seek to use providers and configurations appropriate for commercial software applications, but third-party processing remains subject to agreements between Past Briefly and those providers.
We do not permit our AI service providers to use your Creative Content to train their general-purpose models where our applicable provider agreement or API configuration allows us to prevent such use.
4. Use of Creative Content for Model Training
We do not use your private Creative Content to train general-purpose artificial intelligence models.
We may use limited information about how users interact with the Service to improve Past Briefly, including product analytics, error information, user feedback, and aggregated or de-identified usage patterns.

- cloud infrastructure and hosting providers;
- artificial intelligence providers;
- payment processors;
- authentication providers;
- analytics providers;
- email and communications providers;

- customer support tools.
These providers may process information only as necessary to provide their services to us and subject to applicable contractual obligations.
We may also disclose information:
- when required by law, subpoena, court order, or other legal process;
- where reasonably necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Past Briefly, our users, or others;
- to investigate fraud, security issues, or violations of our Terms;
- with your consent or at your direction; or
- as part of a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of all or part of our business.
We do not sell your screenplay, story ideas, or other Creative Content.
Text messaging exclusion. For Rivington text messaging, the terms in section 17 control over this section 5 and section 6: no mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes, and mobile opt-in data and consent will not be shared with or sold to any third parties, affiliates or lead generators.
6. Business Transfers
If Past Briefly is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
Any successor entity will remain subject to applicable privacy obligations regarding your information.
This section does not apply to mobile opt-in data and text message consent, which are never shared with or sold to third parties, affiliates or lead generators (see section 17).
7. Data Retention
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to:
- provide the Service;
- maintain your account and projects;
- fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy;
- comply with legal obligations;
- resolve disputes;
- enforce agreements;
- prevent fraud and abuse; and
- maintain security and backup systems.
When you delete content or your account, deletion from active systems may not be instantaneous. Information may remain temporarily in backups or be retained where required for legitimate legal, security, or operational purposes.
8. Data Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure.
However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

- correct inaccurate information;
- request deletion;
- obtain a copy of certain information;
- object to or restrict certain processing;

- appeal certain privacy decisions.
These rights are subject to applicable law and may contain exceptions.

hq@pastbriefly.com
We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.
11. California Privacy Disclosures
If applicable to Past Briefly under California law, California residents may have additional rights regarding their personal information.
We do not sell personal information in the traditional sense of exchanging personal information for money.
Mobile opt-in data and text message consent are never sold or shared, and mobile information is never shared for marketing or promotional purposes (see section 17).
12. International Users
Past Briefly may operate from the United States and may use service providers located in the United States and other countries.
If you access the Service from another country, your information may be transferred to and processed in countries whose data protection laws differ from those in your jurisdiction.
Where required, we will use appropriate mechanisms for international transfers of personal information.
13. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information to us, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
14. Third-Party Links and Services
The Service may contain links to or integrations with third-party websites and services.
We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third parties, and this Privacy Policy does not apply to information processed independently by those third parties.
15. Email Communications
We may send you transactional messages related to your account, including login information, security notices, billing communications, product updates, and other service-related messages.
If we send marketing communications, you may unsubscribe through the instructions included in those messages. This section is about email. Rivington does not send marketing or promotional text messages.
16. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.
If we make material changes, we may provide notice through the Service, by email, or by another reasonable method.
The “Last Updated” date above indicates when this Privacy Policy was most recently revised.
17. Rivington by Past Briefly and Text Messaging
Rivington is a household concierge service and a product of Past Briefly, LLC, a Delaware limited liability company operating in New York City. Text messages from Rivington are signed “Rivington by Past Briefly.” This section covers mobile information and text messaging for Rivington. Program details are at https://rivington.ai/sms.
What we collect
- your mobile number, which you give us when you opt in;
- your opt-in record: the date and time, IP address, browser or user agent, the page and page version where you opted in, and the consent wording shown to you;
- opt-out and opt-in keyword events (for example STOP, HELP and START);
- the texts you send us and our replies; and
- message delivery status.
The Rivington waitlist collects email addresses only. It does not collect phone numbers and does not sign you up for texts.
How we use it
We text you only if you opted in by checking the optional, unchecked text message box during Rivington onboarding, or by texting START after opting out. Texting is not a condition of purchase. We use your mobile information only to send and receive the texts described here, to keep a record of your consent and opt-outs, and to provide the Service.
Texts are customer care and account notifications about your membership: replies to your requests, confirmations, reminders, approvals, your weekly brief, and billing and account notices. We do not send marketing or promotional texts.
No sharing of mobile information
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Mobile opt-in data and consent will not be shared with or sold to any third parties, affiliates or lead generators.
This restriction controls over section 5 and section 6 of this policy. We will never begin sharing mobile numbers or text message consent data for marketing.
Opting out and getting help
Message frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP (or STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, QUIT, REVOKE or OPTOUT) to opt out, HELP or INFO for help, and START or UNSTOP to opt back in. Texting STOP stops text messages only; it does not cancel your membership. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. You can also email hq@pastbriefly.com.
How long we keep it
We keep SMS opt-in and opt-out records to demonstrate consent, for up to 4 years after your last opt-in or opt-out. After you cancel your membership, we delete your other account data 30 days later, and it is removed from backups within a further 30 days. You can ask us to delete specific information at any time by emailing hq@pastbriefly.com.
18. Rivington Household Information
This section covers the information Rivington, the household concierge from Past Briefly, LLC, handles for member households. Section 17 covers mobile information and texting. Where this section differs from sections 1 to 16, it controls for Rivington.
What we collect
- About your household: the names, contact details and preferences you give us for the adults in your household, and details you choose to share about the people around you, such as names, birthdays, anniversaries, favorite places and the providers you use.
- About children: only what a parent or guardian in the household tells us, such as a child’s first name, age, school, activities and schedule. We never collect information from children directly, Rivington is not for anyone under 18, and children’s information is never used for marketing.
- Messages and photos: the emails and texts you exchange with Rivington. Photos you send (for example, a school calendar) are read for the dates in them and then deleted.
- Calendar: if you connect Google Calendar, the events we need to plan around and the events Rivington adds for you.
- Phone calls: recordings and transcripts of the calls Rivington’s automated assistant places to businesses for you.
- Payments and holds: your membership and card holds are handled by Stripe. We keep the amounts, merchants and dates of holds and purchases, never your full card number. Purchases are paid with single-use virtual cards we issue through Stripe; their numbers are not stored.
- Your “fact file”: what Rivington learns over time to help you, such as preferences, sizes, dietary needs and the things you book on repeat.
How we use and protect it
We use household information only to provide Rivington to your household: to understand and carry out your requests, keep your calendar and plans straight, place and track purchases, and improve how well we do that for you. We don’t sell it, and we don’t use it for advertising.
Each adult has a private thread with Rivington. What one client tells Rivington privately is not shown to the other adults in the household. Household information is encrypted with a key for your household. People on our team can see it only while working on an open task for your household; every view is recorded in a tamper-evident log, and private items show only as counts.
Who we share it with
We share only what a task needs with the business that fulfils it, for example the name, party size and time for a reservation. Our service providers process information for us under contract: Cloudflare (hosting, storage and email), Stripe (payments and cards), Twilio and Sendblue (texts and calls), Google (if you connect your calendar), and our artificial intelligence model provider, which we reach through Cloudflare’s AI Gateway. We do not permit our AI providers to use household information to train their models where our agreements or settings allow us to prevent it. We may also share information when the law requires it.
Google user data
Rivington’s use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We use Google Calendar data only to show your schedule to Rivington so it can plan around it and add the events you ask for. We don’t use it for advertising, we don’t sell it, we don’t let people read it except with your permission, for security, or as the law requires, and we don’t use it to train AI models. You can disconnect Google at any time from your Google account settings or by asking Rivington.
How long we keep it
While you are a member, we keep household information to provide the service. After you cancel, your membership runs to the end of the paid month, and we delete your household’s data 30 days after your last day; it is removed from backups within a further 30 days. Before then, you can download it with the export link we send. We keep texting-consent records as described in section 17, payment records as the law requires, and the action log, which records what was done and when, with personal details removed.
You can ask what we hold, ask us to correct or delete something, or cancel at any time: reply “cancel my membership” to any Rivington email or text, or email hq@pastbriefly.com.
